About the Role The Manager Retention Optimization will play a critical role in advancing SelectQuote’s long-term customer retention goals. This leader will drive the implementation of retention initiatives across the customer lifecycle with the Retention team as well as the cross‑functional partners. The ideal candidate combines an attention to detail a sense of urgency with exceptional communication and cross‑functional influence skills. This role requires someone who can translate complex insights into clear direction take ideas from concept to execution and ensure strategies are followed through with disciplined tracking and continuous improvement.
This person will work closely with leaders across Marketing Operations, Data Enablement, Data Science and Analytics and other teams to ensure retention strategy moves forward effectively and cohesively. This position is ideal for someone with foundational business acumen, business analytical skills and is cross‑functional team oriented with the ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Monitor the performance of Retention Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) identify trends and recommend adjustments to enhance persistency
Collaborate with leadership to define strategic objectives success metrics (cost per sale cost per save cost per contact as well as ROI) forecasting and projections (active member and workforce planning) and budget (required for treatment plans and execution) to support the Retention objectives of SelectQuote Senior
Assess full funnel performance and drive decisions for optimization workflow and tactical execution both intraday and based on historical performance.
Work with the Retention team, Analytics, Data Science and RevOps teams to ensure data accuracy and understanding to help support and guide the overall Retention strategy.
Serve as the right hand to the Sr. Dir Retention driving business intelligence and as a thought partner for future treatments and segmentation
Exercise influence without direct authority; unite teams to deliver shared outcomes.
Skills & Competencies
Strong strategic problem‑solving skills with the ability to digest complexity and communicate simply.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting to high‑level leaders.
High emotional intelligence, strong relationship‑building and ability to navigate complex cross‑functional environments.
Demonstrated success managing long‑term initiatives with both strategic and operational components.
Ability to execute independently while driving alignment across teams.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Strategy Analytics or related field.
5+ years of experience in strategy, business analytics, project management, or a related function supporting strategic decision‑making.
Experience working cross‑functionally with senior leaders and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
Background in operations, project management, customer analytics, retention, or customer‑lifecycle strategy preferred.
Financial Responsibilities (budget revenue)
This position has budget responsibility authority and/or level of control.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed indoors with potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to office work. Could periodically travel to other office and operational sites. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
