Position Summary The Associate Director, MMI Business Office provides senior leadership and operational oversight in support of the Director of Financial and Administrative Services and the Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) mission. This role oversees day-to-day research administration, research financial management, business service operations, and compliance across 25 organizational units. Reporting to the Director of Financial and Administrative Services, the Associate Director serves as a key advisor to department leadership and collaborates closely with Department Directors to support program growth, financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. The position provides supervision and leadership to professional and support staff and maintains strong partnerships with UNMC Sponsored Programs Administration and Accounting, UNMC Business and Finance, and other UNMC colleges and units to ensure effective financial and research management across the Institute.

Required and Preferred Qualifications Required Education Business

Required Experience 5 years in progressive finance and accounting, including supervising staff. If any experience is required, specify the type of experience:
Progressive finance and accounting experience to include supervising staff
Required Licensure No specific licensure required
Required Computer Applications Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook

Required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to problem solve by critically evaluating alternative courses of action and arriving at solutions that are best for both the Institute and UNMC.
Working knowledge of related technological resources/software including SAP and MS Office suite.
Demonstrated participatory leadership fostering respect and collegiality; competency in conflict management, supervision, mentoring and team building.
Proficiency in analytic reasoning to formulate budgets and administrative policies and processes.
Understanding of regulatory framework and internal controls and ability to apply them within the Institute.
Ability to act as liaison with sponsors, subcontractors, and collaborators across the enterprise.
Self-starter with high standards for personal and professional excellence, achievement, honesty, and integrity.
Proven ability to manage and follow through on multiple priorities.
Ability to lead and assist staff on complex assignments, monitoring and projecting costs and other projects.
Strong written and oral communication skills and sound decision-making under time constraints.
Preferred Education Accounting, Public Administration, Business Administration or related.
Preferred Experience Progressively responsible administrative experience including preparing, submitting, and monitoring federal grants, personnel management, and management of large-scale funding in a complex organization. Experience in an Academic Research Environment is a bonus.
