POSITION SUMMARY The Business Office Consultant is primarily responsible to work with the Business Office Managers of assigned facilities. Responsible for training of new Business Office Managers as needed. Assigned to work with BOMs and designated Billing Specialist. Assist with Medical Assistant applications and outstanding accounts as needed. Work with families and healthcare staff as assigned. Assist BOMs with Revenue Cycle management, this includes accounts Receivable, billing, record keeping, data management and information system reports. Assures accurate and efficient information accordance with professional accounting practices and government regulations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Training and Consulting with Facility Business Office Managers
Train new Business Office Managers as needed.
Consult Business Office Managers with Medical Assistance pending cases.
Consult with County financial workers on Medical Assistance pending cases.
Consult as needed with admission teams and Billing Specialist on referrals.
Assist with RFMS and other resident trust applications as needed.
Do quarterly audits of trust with Business Office Managers.
Monitors and works with Business Office Managers at assigned facilities with aging reports for Private Pay and Recipient Resources.
Assist Business Office Manager with Medical Assistance Billing.
Assist with other business Office duties as directed.
Be resource for Administrators and Management team as needed.
Maintains Healthy Relationships and Uses and Professional Conduct with Residents, Families, Visitors, Supervisors, and Co-workers
Arrives at work on time and ready to begin work. Is able to prioritize and be organized and efficient when interacting and communication.
Follows policy on absenteeism, tardiness, and call-ins as outlined in Personnel Policy Manual.
Is courteous and cooperative with residents, families, visitors, supervisors, and co-workers.
Follows dress code, wears name tag, and limits personal phone calls.
Is courteous and cooperative with residents, families, visitors, supervisors, and co-workers.
Maintains resident and personnel confidentiality at all times. Understands the need for complete privacy of all health care data.
Abides by and promotes the Continuous Quality Improvement Program of Monarch Healthcare Management.
Maintains Current Levels of Education and Facilitate the Implementation of New Policies and Procedures Within the Facility
Attends meetings as directed to include departmental meetings, Quality Assurance meetings, etc.
Attends continuing education/in-services pertinent to your department and designated by your superior.
Maintains and applies knowledge of current policies and procedures. Assists in policy and procedure development as needed.
Is knowledgeable of and abides by the importance of the Residents’ Bill of Rights.
QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience
Associate degree in accounting, healthcare administration, or business management, or high school diploma with 5 years of business office experience in and/or related to healthcare billing.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of account receivable management, basic accounting procedures, insurance/third party billing procedures, and computerized office system operation.
Able to communicate both verbally and in writing, to effectively guide direct reports, communicate with co-workers, and relate and respond to upper management.
Able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must qualify for employment, after criminal background check, per guidelines of the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
