The Recruitment & Retention Specialist is responsible for managing the full-cycle recruitment process while supporting employee engagement and retention initiatives for Cape Associates, Inc. This role oversees job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, onboarding support, and retention strategies to ensure the company attracts, hires, and retains top talent. The Specialist serves as a liaison between candidates, hiring managers, educational institutions, and employment agencies, while maintaining consistent communication and positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process.

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

Manage all job postings and maintain relationships with posting outlets to ensure optimal market exposure.

Research and execute new outlets for job listing placements and recruiting opportunities.

Proactively recruit and source potential candidates.

Vet potential candidates through resume review and screening processes.

Create and update job descriptions, requirements, and salary expectations.

Create and maintain candidate self‑evaluation forms.

Set up and coordinate all candidate interviews; attend interviews as needed.

Perform reference checks.

Follow up with candidates regarding interview status.

Follow up with interviewers to gather and provide constructive feedback.

Create and execute job offer letters, including full compensation and benefits packages.

Ensure all applicants receive timely communication regarding their application status, whether or not a position is currently available.

Attend job fairs, recruiting events, and other hiring initiatives.

Liaise with employment agencies, colleges, and industry associations.

Build relationships with school representatives for co‑ops, internships, and graduating students seeking employment.

Assist in outreach efforts to former employees.

Maintain and update standardized interview forms to ensure consistency across all interviewers.

Present the interview process to executive, managerial, and other staff as requested; provide interview training as needed.

Onboarding & Employee Experience

Administer new employee onboarding activities.

Conduct regular check‑ins with new employees following their start date.

Assist with the employee evaluation process, including pre‑review meetings.

Conduct exit interviews and report findings.

Retention & Engagement Strategy

Conduct regular wage and benefits research, including analysis of area employers and market trends.

Help identify retention trends and determine key factors contributing to employee satisfaction and longevity.

Develop and enhance employee recognition programs aligned with retention goals.

Identify and support professional development opportunities that strengthen retention efforts.

Reporting & Administrative Support

Report regularly on recruitment, retention, and engagement activities.

Assist the Vice President of Human Resources as needed to ensure seamless departmental operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).

3–5 years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, or HR.

Experience managing full‑cycle recruitment, including sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, and offer execution.

Knowledge of employment laws and hiring best practices.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple roles simultaneously.

Experience supporting employee retention and engagement initiatives (preferred).

Data‑driven; experience tracking and reporting recruitment and retention metrics.

Proficiency in BambooHR (HRIS/ATS), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and online recruiting platforms (Indeed, LinkedIn, etc.).
