24 Seven Talent, Los Angeles, CA, United States
The Technical Designer, Ready to Wear, is responsible for driving the technical integrity, fit, and construction of women’s RTW product from initial development through production. This role partners closely with Design, Product Development, and overseas vendors to ensure that brand fit standards are maintained while supporting innovation in silhouette, fabrication, and construction. The Technical Designer will own fit sessions, manage all technical documentation, and help ensure styles are delivered on time and to spec.
Key Responsibilities
Own the technical development of assigned RTW categories from proto through production approval. Create, maintain, and update detailed technical packages, including specs, construction details, and technical sketches. Establish initial measurements based on fit blocks, brand standards, and design intent; grade specs as needed. Accurately measure and evaluate all incoming samples, ensuring consistency with established Points of Measure (POMs). Prepare, lead, and recap fit sessions, providing clear direction that balances design vision, fit, and manufacturability. Write precise, actionable fit and construction comments for vendors, ensuring clarity on required pattern and construction changes. Track and manage all sample and fit status within assigned categories, maintaining up-to-date logs and calendars. Assess the impact of new fabrics, trims, and washes on fit and construction; adjust specs and construction accordingly. Partner with Design to troubleshoot fit and quality issues while preserving aesthetic and brand standards. Coordinate with Production and Sourcing to align on lead times, fit milestones, and factory capabilities. Identify and communicate potential risk areas in pattern, construction, or sizing early in the development process. Support continuous improvement of fit standards, measurement methods, and garment construction guidelines. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Technical Design, Fashion Design, Product Development, Patternmaking, or a related field. 5–7 years of technical design experience in women’s ready to wear, with strong understanding of contemporary or better-market product. Solid knowledge of garment construction, pattern shapes, and how pattern changes affect fit and silhouette. Demonstrated ability to spec garments accurately using established POMs and measurement standards. Hands‑on experience fitting woven and knit RTW garments across multiple product types (tops, dresses, bottoms, outerwear preferred). Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle issues in balance, proportions, and finishing. Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with PLM, web‑based tech pack systems, or other industry‑specific software. Basic working knowledge of patternmaking software and/or 2D CAD (e.g., Gerber, Lectra) is a plus. Basic sewing skills and familiarity with factory construction methods and machinery. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate fit issues into clear technical direction. Highly organized, able to manage multiple styles and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Collaborative team player who is proactive, solution‑oriented, and comfortable partnering with cross‑functional and overseas teams.
