The Senior Instructional Designer will lead the design and development of technical apprenticeship training programs within the Power Generation business. This role focuses on curriculum development, project management, and continuous improvement of learning solutions aligned with operational and strategic goals. Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of technical apprenticeship courses for Power Generation trades Conduct needs assessments and front-end analyses (FEA) to identify training requirements Collaborate with learning strategists and instructional designers to define learning strategies and curriculum maps Guide the use of learning technologies and tools to enhance training effectiveness Coach and support instructional designers on ADDIE model and quality standards; conduct QA reviews Estimate project costs and develop schedules in collaboration with stakeholders Manage project execution to ensure timely and on‑budget delivery Facilitate key project meetings including kick‑offs, betas, train‑the‑trainer sessions, and pilots Present proposals and updates to stakeholders and apprenticeship committees Analyze training effectiveness metrics and drive continuous improvement Archive course materials and complete project close‑out activities Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field (or equivalent experience) Minimum 5 years of instructional design experience, including 2 years in a leadership or mentoring role Proven experience managing small to mid‑sized projects Nice‑to‑Have Experience
Experience developing apprenticeship programs in skilled trades Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field Experience in utility industry, trades, or similar environments Required Skills
Project management of technical training programs Strong understanding of the learning development process Preferred Skills
Proficiency in MS Office, Articulate Storyline, video production, and web design tools Familiarity with tools such as Questionmark, Author‑It, MS Teams, and virtual learning platforms Strong stakeholder engagement and presentation skills Additional Skills from Original Description
