Mechanical Designer – New Product Development

Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented
Mechanical Designer – New Product Development
to support the design and development of innovative products from concept through production. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical design expertise who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about creating high-quality, manufacturable solutions.
You will play a key role in translating engineering and marketing concepts into detailed 3D models, production drawings, and product configurations while ensuring designs meet standards for performance, cost, manufacturability, and serviceability.
Key Responsibilities
Develop engineering documentation including 3D models, fabrication drawings, and purchase drawings using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks)
Translate product requirements into detailed designs, layouts, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Create and maintain product configurators and structured BOM systems
Collaborate with engineering teams (Product, VAVE, and Production) to support new designs and product modifications
Provide accurate project estimates and manage workload effectively
Apply strong mechanical aptitude and creative problem-solving to design challenges
Support continuous improvement in design and manufacturing processes
Participate in cross-functional team initiatives and projects
Required Qualifications
Associate degree or equivalent in Design, Drafting, or a related field
3+ years of experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment
Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software
Strong experience with BOM management and product configuration systems
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability principles
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data managementStrong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
Qualifications That Are a Plus
Experience in sheet metal design
Experience working with copper tubing
Background in HVAC or related product design
