Compliance Department At Father Joe’s Villages, strong compliance and stewardship practices are essential to sustaining programs that support individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The Compliance department works across the organization to help ensure the organization operates in alignment with grant, contract, and regulatory requirements while strengthening accountability, transparency, and audit readiness.

We are seeking a Compliance Specialist to join our growing Compliance Department. This position may be filled at the I or II level, depending on experience and qualifications.

The Role As a Compliance Specialist, you will help strengthen the organization’s grant, contract, and compliance practices, ensuring programs operate in alignment with funder requirements and internal policies. Your work will focus on maintaining accurate documentation, supporting audit readiness, and collaborating across departments to reduce risk and improve accountability. You will partner with program, fiscal, and administrative teams to track deliverables, prepare documentation, interpret requirements, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Success in this role requires attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple deadlines, and consistent follow-through.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor grant and contracted programs to ensure compliance with funder requirements, regulations, and organizational policies.

Track deliverables, reporting deadlines, and compliance milestones across multiple funding sources.

Review grant applications, contracts, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness before submission.

Identify potential compliance risks and work with teams to implement timely corrective actions.

Coordinate and prepare documentation for internal and external audits, site visits, and funder reviews.

Maintain organized compliance records and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Support year‑round audit readiness by tracking findings, follow‑up actions, and documentation improvements.

Provide guidance and training to staff on grant and contract compliance expectations.

Collaborate across departments to strengthen compliance practices, improve processes, and reduce organizational risk.

Desirable Candidate Profile Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, Legal Studies, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience

Compliance Specialist I – At least one (1) year of experience in grant administration, contract compliance, audit support, or related technical or administrative work.

Compliance Specialist II – At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in grant administration, contract compliance, regulatory compliance, or audit support.

Key Competencies and Experience

Ability to interpret and apply grant, contract, and regulatory requirements.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing documentation and deadlines.

Experience supporting audits, monitoring activities, or compliance reviews.

Ability to manage multiple priorities across departments.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Effective collaboration with program, fiscal, and administrative teams.

Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management tools.

Work Schedule This is a full‑time position, typically 40 hours per week, scheduled Monday through Friday. Work hours may vary based on departmental and organizational needs.

Compensation & Benefits New employees are typically hired between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range, based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.

Compliance Specialist I – $60,902 – $76,128 annually

Compliance Specialist II – $67,662 – $84,573 annually
