Primary Responsibilities
Assist the Director for Community Operations in directing and coordinating activities of staff operations statewide to include planning, developing, overseeing, and evaluating projects, schedules, and work plans.
Provide direct supervision of section staff, including assessment of staff performance, training needs, time and leave reporting, workflow, and coaching sessions.
Ensure all administrative review and technical assistance processes for the Child Nutrition Programs follow federal and state rules and regulations and recommend corrections to reduce risk.
Identify areas for improvement in administrative review processes, procedures, and training tools to increase efficiency and work with other units to develop and maintain accurate, relevant tools and system enhancements.
Serve as the state‑level contact for external stakeholders, produce and disseminate program information, resolve compliance issues, and manage high‑profile, high‑risk situations with contracting entities.
Assist in development of required program reports.
May represent the division and agency locally, statewide, and at the federal level; may include speaking engagements.
Follow all TDA policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor's Degree
(one year of work experience related to the essential duties may substitute for one year of college).
Five (5) years of experience
reviewing and ensuring program compliance of highly advanced reviews with federal, state, or local governments.
Two (2) years of experience
serving in a supervisory role.
Valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a lead, senior, or manager in the Child and Adult Care Food Program or Summer Food Service Program.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to program activities.
Business and management principles in strategic planning, resource allocation, and leadership techniques.
Understanding of public administration and management principles.
Skill in establishing plans, setting objectives and goals that support business strategy; decision-making; conflict resolution; working quickly and collaboratively; excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
Ability to use computers and applicable software.
Ability to direct and organize program activities, set goals, identify problems, evaluate alternatives, implement solutions; develop and evaluate policies and procedures; prepare concise reports; communicate effectively; and supervise others.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Requires working in a normal office environment; may be exposed to dust and environmental allergens. Mostly sedentary but may involve walking, standing, pulling and pushing, kneeling, stooping, bending, fine motor tasks, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Must work extended periods at a computer and may need extended hours, evenings and weekends. May involve travel up to 20%*, occasionally overnight.
