Position Overview:
A leading insurance organization is seeking a strategic and experienced Corporate Tax Directorto lead its corporate tax function. This individual will oversee all aspects of tax compliance, reporting, and operational processes, managing a team of 10 professionals. The ideal candidate brings 15+ years of corporate tax experience within the insurance industry and a strong track record of leadership, process improvement, and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the corporate tax function, including federal, state, and local compliance
Oversee quarterly and annual tax provision processes under U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting frameworks
Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on tax planning, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency
Drive process improvements, technology implementation, and automation initiatives within the tax function
Ensure timely and accurate completion of all tax filings and payments
Monitor tax legislation and regulatory developments relevant to the insurance industry
Manage, develop, and mentor a team of 10 tax professionals, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment
Coordinate with external advisors and auditors to support compliance, provision, and audit processes
Qualifications:
15+ years of corporate tax experience, with significant time spent in the insurance industry
Proven experience managing large teams and leading complex tax operations
Deep understanding of tax issues impacting insurance companies (e.g., life, P&C, or reinsurance)
Strong technical knowledge of federal and state corporate income tax laws, tax provision (ASC 740), and statutory reporting
CPA or advanced degree (e.g., MST, JD/LLM) strongly preferred
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Ability to work across functions and influence senior stakeholders
