Pay Rate: $18.00 - $20.00 Based on Experience

ROLE The Mobile Phlebotomist, under the general supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, provides clinical pre-analytical laboratory services to clients/patients in a mobile setting. They complete assigned routes safely and timely, following all policies and procedures.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive vehicle to client facilities, typically nursing homes, as directed by company dispatcher.

Unload phlebotomy tray and take to patient's bedside to collect samples ordered by physician.

Accurately identify patient before collecting specimen(s).

Accurately collect, label, process, and deliver specimens obtained from patients.

Reload equipment and all necessary specimens to vehicle for prompt delivery.

Regularly communicate with dispatcher to report status and location.

Strictly adhere to Universal Precautions in controlling blood-borne pathogens and infectious disease exposures.

Maintain required certifications, health and operational requirements.

Keep work area clean.

Follow all required safety precautions at all times.

Report any unsafe conditions in the workplace.

Report all complaints and problems encountered.

Monitor supplies inventory and report low stock or out-of-stock situations.

Identify and segregate any expired supplies.

Arrive to work promptly, properly groomed, wearing proper identification at all times when visiting a facility.

Accurately maintain time records of hours worked and deliver to company as directed.

Manage shift to include meal breaks.

Follow specimen preservation, patient preparation, and specimen management processes and procedures as written.

Use only approved current documents.

Make changes to records only per approved instructions as needed.

Work on-call evenings, weekends, and irregular unscheduled overtime as needed based on company workload or absenteeism.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Excellent communication and interaction skills specific to the population served, including pediatric and geriatric communities.

Treat customers and patients with respect, dignity, and discretion; acknowledge residents' rights and patients' right to refuse.

Demonstrate regular attendance.

Have a current, valid State phlebotomy license (if required).

Have a current, valid State Driver's license, car insurance, good driving record; possess a vehicle in good working condition suitable for daily driving.

Proficient in venipuncture and skin puncture using both vacutainer and syringe techniques.

Knowledge of laboratory operations.

Maintain sterile, sanitary conditions to prevent contamination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Employee must walk, stand, handle, talk, and hear frequently; occasionally sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; may lift and or move up to 35 pounds on occasion. Vision abilities: close vision, depth perception, adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Standard medical laboratory environment with potential health hazards. Employees expected to safely operate per health and safety policies, use PPE consistently. Associates work in all weather and driving conditions.
