This position has a working shift of 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Monday–Friday.

Overview Responsible for coordination of the documentation required by US Customs/Government Agencies for entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers.

Responsibilities

Obtaining correct classification of goods for customs release from database, SOPs, tariff book, internet or customs.

Data entry and processing of various import-related documentation for submission to US Customs; may handle all Participating Government Agencies (PGAs).

Maintaining and keeping current all shipment documentation in compliance with record-keeping requirements.

Adhering to all international importing and exporting regulations.

Working closely with internal staff, departments, other FedEx opCos, customers and government agencies to deliver high level of service.

Processing agency brokerage shipments.

Performing entry reconciliations as needed.

Ensuring all government and organizational policies are followed.

Following up on customs matters and resolving problems.

Performing entry reviews as needed.

May handle remote filings.

May process commodities identified and isolated as requiring specialized processing to reduce risk of penalties through classification and proper duty preferences.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities For Success

HS Diploma or GED required.

Minimum of 6 months work experience required; 12 months of industry experience preferred.

Data entry/keyboard experience required; CCS and/or Brokers license preferred.

Required: MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Problem-solving skills; ability to handle high volume of time-sensitive work.

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Ability to use multiple systems and reference material; interact with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, internal staff, and management at all levels.

Knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules preferred.

Performs other or additional duties as assigned.

Paid Customs Industry Training Provided.

Qualifications and Requirements

HS Diploma or GED required; 6 months of brokerage or transportation experience and/or customer service experience preferred.

MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner) required.

Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; problem-solving abilities.

Ability to handle high volumes of time-sensitive work and to work independently with minimal supervision.

Detail oriented; knowledge in HTS classification and familiarity with the harmonized tariff system; knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and related Federal regulations with respect to the area of expertise.

Pay and Benefits Pay: Total Base Pay Range 16.14 – 25.57 USD hourly.

Additional Details

3rd shift Monday to Friday 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. / Hybrid. Must have customs brokerage experience.

Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
