
DEPUTY DIRECTOR, MARYLAND PUBLIC EMPLOYEE RELATIONS BOARD (EXEC AIDE III)

Introduction
Per the Maryland Public Employee Relations Act (PERA) and the Maryland Public Employee Relations Board (PERB), a Deputy Director is required to investigate Unfair Labor Practices and present findings to the Board. The Deputy Director may also present some cases at unfair labor practice hearings.
Grade 22
Location Annapolis, Maryland
Position Duties The Deputy Director is responsible for:
Investigating Unfair Labor Practice charges and reporting the results to the Board.
Presenting investigation results to the Board for determination of probable cause.
Seeking informal resolution of charges or complaints, in accordance with PERA section 22‑307(C) & (D).
Determining probable cause for cases involving collective bargaining conduct.
Acting at the direction of the Board and serving at the pleasure of the Board; may be subject to direction and critique.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed to practice law in Maryland or expected to obtain license within one year of hiring.
Self‑starting, self‑motivated, with knowledge of labor law and PERA requirements.
Understanding of what constitutes probable cause for unfair labor practice charges.
Excellent writing, analysis, and oral communication skills expected of a licensed attorney.
Examination Process The assessment may include a rating of education, training, and experience related to the position requirements.
