Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and driven individual to join our Management Trainee Program within the mining and construction sector. This is an exciting opportunity for recent graduates or early‑career professionals to gain hands‑on experience in operations, safety, production, maintenance, and team leadership. The ideal candidate is looking to build a long‑term career in site management or operational leadership.
Roles and Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Learn how to operate within TNY's safety culture and manage with safety as a value.
Learn the operations from a ground level, hands‑on perspective and execute many of the jobs necessary in production operations.
Learn all the aspects related to local, state and federal compliance within operations.
Learn basic supervisory skills necessary to take on a leadership role.
Gain basic accounting understanding of controls related to operations management.
Be a relentless and versatile learner who is open to change and enjoys the challenge of unfamiliar tasks.
Pick up technical skills quickly and learn new skills.
Demonstrate support for and understanding of CRH and Tilcon's core values of safety, integrity and quality.
Complete all daily reporting necessary to the assigned operations.
Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and permits.
Communicate events that negatively impact performance of the operation to the Plant Manager in a timely manner.
Maintain a professional demeanor when dealing with critical or confidential information.
Maintain regular and timely attendance.
Work overtime and weekends as necessary to meet company goals.
Perform additional duties as assigned or required.
Marginal Duties and Functions
Perform required clerical functions, including employee payroll, safety and environmental records, operations data, inventory reports, production reports, safety talk documentation and creating work requests.
Fill in for other plant supervisors in their absence.
Attend after‑hours company functions such as customer appreciation events.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and Experience Required:
High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) with 3+ years of practical work experience.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree from a four‑year college or university, preferably in engineering.
At least 3 years of experience in an operations‑leadership role.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills and abilities.
High level of proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
3 years of milling and paving experience.
Work Requirements
Strict adherence to safety requirements and company procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
Willingness to work nights and weekends when required.
Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. PPE may include face shield, safety glasses, hard‑toe shoes, dust masks and hearing protection.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Working knowledge of English and math, and office practices and procedures.
Ability to maintain records and files.
Strong communication skills and ability to work well with others.
Ability to carry out complex oral and written instructions and solve complex problems.
