Description

The Senior Director, Head of Global Security leads the enterprise security strategy for the newly independent DePuy Synthes, protecting people, assets, intellectual property, clinical research, and global operations. The role oversees physical security, executive protection, threat intelligence, supply chain security, insider threat, security training and workplace violence prevention across global facilities, partners, and manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the global security strategy aligned with business objectives and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).
  • Establish security governance, policies, and standards across global operations.
  • Provide executive‑level reporting on security risks, incidents, and program performance.
  • Oversee global physical security programs across offices, laboratories, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers.
  • Implement and maintain site security standards, access control procedures, guard‑force operations, surveillance systems, and perimeter security.
  • Conduct site risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and mitigation plans to meet regulatory, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement of security capabilities through technology modernization, metrics, audits, and lessons learned.
  • Lead executive protection and duty‑of‑care programs, including executive travel and major events.
  • Direct global threat intelligence and risk analysis covering geopolitical, activist, cyber, physical, and reputational risks.
  • Develop and oversee supply chain and third‑party security programs to protect product integrity and operations.
  • Lead insider threat and workplace violence prevention programs in partnership with HR, Legal, and Cyber Security.
  • Oversee enterprise security technologies and long‑term modernization initiatives.
  • Direct security incident response, investigations, and crisis support activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred in Security, Risk Management, Intelligence, Business, or related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience leading global corporate security programs; 10+ years in law enforcement or military preferred.
  • Experience leading site security programs in complex environments such as manufacturing plants, laboratories, R&D campuses, and distribution facilities.
  • Strong people‑leadership skills with proven ability to mentor and develop diverse teams.
  • Experience managing performance evaluations, goal setting, and professional growth for direct reports.
  • Track record resolving conflicts and implementing process improvements to enhance team productivity.
  • Experience hiring, interviewing, and selecting top talent for high‑performing teams.
  • Background in regulated industries such as MedTech, Pharma, Healthcare, or Manufacturing preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with executive leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Professional certifications preferred (CPP, PSP, PCI).

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range: $178,000.00 - $307,050.00. The position is eligible for the company long‑term incentive program and consolidated retirement and savings plans. Benefits include vacation, sick time, holiday pay, work/family time, parental leave, bereavement leave, caregiver leave, volunteer leave, and military spouse time‑off, varying by location.
