Position Summary
The Executive Director of Retail Pricing is responsible for developing and implementing retail pricing strategies, aligning these with merchandising and promotional strategies, analyzing pricing performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading a 25‑colleague pricing organization.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops retail pricing strategy, processes and protocols for regular everyday prices including price attributes & architecture, strategic & category guardrails, executing & maintaining item prices in stores & online, and leveraging pricing optimization & implementation tools to deliver customer & business growth objectives.
- Develops business strategies with merchandising and promotional partners to align regular pricing strategies with product category objectives, promotional activities and marketing campaigns.
- Delivers pricing analytics and modeling, leveraging data and insights to drive pricing strategies and identify profitable revenue growth opportunities.
- Facilitates initiatives to analyze pricing performance metrics, evaluate pricing effectiveness, and make data‑driven recommendations for improvement.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements by developing and maintaining pricing policies, guidelines, and frameworks to ensure consistency.
- Communicates with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders providing reporting and insights resulting from the analysis of market trends, customer insights, and competitive landscape that helps inform pricing decisions.
- Administers guidance and support to pricing leaders and teams, fostering their skills development, engagement, and experience‑based performance.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in retail merchandising, pricing/promotion strategy, marketing, product/technology, or related leadership roles.
- 10+ years of leadership experience. Building high performing teams, succession planning, and engaging and inspiring others.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and drive change in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Expertise in execution and delivery.
- Adept at business intelligence.
- Adept at collaboration and teamwork.
- Mastery of problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Mastery of growth mindset (agility and developing yourself and others).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with algorithmic pricing and/or discount strategies.
Education
- Bachelor's degree required.
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$131,500.00 - $303,195.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
