Position Summary
Director, Project Management – Full‑time – Spokane, Washington (Headquarters). This role reports to the VP, Project Management and is accountable for leading people and providing strategic direction within the Project Management Office (PMO) to advance AgWest's strategic objectives. The Director provides oversight, coaching, and support for a team of project managers, establishes standards and practices that enable consistent, high‑quality project delivery, and develops project management talent across the organization.
Compensation Information
Base salary range for this position in Spokane, Washington:
- Typical starting range: $89,400 - $124,500
- Full base salary range: $89,400 - $157,700
Annual performance‑based incentive target is 15% of base.
Essential Duties
- PMO Leadership & Project Delivery
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight to ensure programs and projects are delivered successfully within scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
- Serve as a strategic partner to project sponsors and cross‑functional leaders to clarify outcomes, manage risks, and ensure alignment with AgWest's strategic priorities.
- Oversee portfolio health and ensure accurate, timely information is maintained in project and portfolio management systems to support decision‑making and transparency.
- People Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of project managers, building strong project management capability and depth across the PMO.
- Set clear expectations for delivery excellence, accountability, and professional growth, while supporting succession planning and capability building.
- Foster a culture of engagement, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the PMO.
- Program & Enterprise Contribution
- Remain current on industry best practices in project management and continuously evolve PMO processes and procedures.
- Balance people leadership and direct project or program leadership responsibilities, adjusting focus as organizational priorities evolve.
- Provide leadership on strategic initiatives, with accountability for stakeholder engagement, coordination, and proactive risk management, including escalation of trends and issues.
- Represent AgWest's purpose and values to employees, customers, and our communities.
- Demonstrate supervisory competencies and meet expectations of a people leader at AgWest.
- Supervise, coach, and develop employees, including but not limited to role functions, workflow management, time tracking and attendance.
- Communicate goals, expectations, and updates clearly and consistently; serve as the primary point of contact between staff and leadership.
- Ensure new employees are effectively trained and proper onboarding processes are followed; identify learning gaps and coordinate ongoing learning opportunities for staff.
- Mentor direct reports, creating development and stretch opportunities as appropriate.
- Ensure employees understand and comply with all relevant AgWest procedures, policies, and processes.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and organizational policies; mitigate legal and operational risks related to pay, leave, accommodations, workplace safety, discrimination, harassment, and other protected rights.
Travel Requirements
- AgWest employees may occasionally be asked to travel for all‑staff or team meetings not included in the standard travel requirements for the role.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, information systems, computer science, or related field or equivalent experience and/or training.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop high‑performing project management teams.
- Progressive experience leading large, complex projects and programs with executive‑level stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (traditional and agile), portfolio management, and organizational change concepts.
- Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to influence change, and to encourage and motivate team members.
- Strong writing skills with demonstrated ability to research and clearly communicate business information.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
