Regional Director of Family Engagement, Alpha - $200,000/year USD

Crossover, houston, tx, United States

What You Will Be Doing

  • Take full ownership of the relationship with every family on campus, building a deep, evolving connection that makes parents feel understood rather than merely attended to.
  • Identify potential concerns before they surface as formal conversations, and address them with discretion and interpersonal skill that preserves trust.
  • Maintain visible presence in the spaces families occupy: morning drop‑off hours (7–9 am), afternoon pick‑up windows (2–4 pm), evening parent gatherings, and select weekend programming.
  • Create a campus community with authentic depth—traditions, events, and connection points that give families the sense of belonging to something they want to safeguard.
  • Develop parent advocates naturally by delivering experiences so reliably excellent that referrals happen as a matter of course.
  • Sustain the ongoing dialogue about Alpha’s AI‑powered approach with families working through screen‑time questions, skeptical relatives, and moments of doubt—continuously throughout their campus tenure.
  • Recognize when a family is not a good match and manage that situation with the same care you apply to all interactions, preserving the community for its well‑being.
  • Establish the systems and routines this position demands in a setting where standard operating procedures are still under development.

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Overseeing enrollment—this responsibility belongs to the Admissions Director; your work starts after families commit and grows deeper from that point.
  • Operating from behind a desk—your presence within the community defines the role.
  • Adhering to standard 9–5 hours—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening programming are inherent to the position, not occasional exceptions.
  • Relying on administrative infrastructure, formalized procedures, or a complete team—you function with significant autonomy and create the structures you require.
  • Viewing family relationships as accounts to be processed—this role rewards authentic connection, not procedural adherence.

Regional Director Of Family Engagement Key Responsibilities

Serve as the trusted relationship anchoring every family's journey at Alpha. Maintain their confidence during challenging moments, foster a community where belonging feels intentional, and establish the conditions under which satisfied families naturally become active advocates.

Basic Requirements

  • Currently living within commuting range of one of the campuses listed below, or prepared to relocate within 60 days (preference given to candidates with established local community ties): Scottsdale, AZ; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; Lake Forest, CA; San Francisco, CA; Greenwich, CT; Bethesda, MD; New York City, NY; Austin, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; Kirkland, WA.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship.
  • 5+ years in a client‑facing role serving high‑net‑worth or ultra‑high‑net‑worth families—such as private school admissions, luxury hospitality, philanthropic advising, or similar environments where discretion, warmth, and interpersonal skill were as critical as technical competence.
  • Proven capacity to navigate difficult moments with sophisticated families while maintaining and strengthening trust.
  • Authentic presence and communication approach that quickly earns the confidence of affluent, high‑expectation families—polished without appearing rehearsed.
  • Personal experience with independent, private, or non‑traditional education—either professionally or as a parent—that provides you credible perspective when families challenge the model.
  • Sincere belief in AI‑powered education and the capacity to sustain that conviction authentically over years of parent engagement, not solely during the initial enrollment phase.
  • Flexibility to accommodate non‑standard hours: early mornings (7–9 am), late afternoons (2–4 pm), evening programming 2–3 times per month, and occasional weekend commitments.

Nice‑to‑have Requirements

  • Established connections within the local affluent community that provide an immediate, organic presence on campus.
  • Background in private or independent schools with demonstrated success in family retention and community building—not solely enrollment metrics.
  • Track record managing high‑stakes family relationships where your discretion and judgment were the reasons trust endured.
  • Natural ability to design experiences—events, moments, settings—that make people feel part of something they want to protect.
  • Prior experience in startup or early‑stage environments where you built systems from the ground up and maintained composure through rapid change.

Compensation and Work Arrangements

This is a full‑time (40 hours per week), long‑term position. The compensation for this role is $100 USD per hour, equating to $200,000 USD per year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
