Director of Foundations Finance

Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Foundations & CFO for Foundations and Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement, the Director of Foundations Finance leads the Foundations Finance & Accounting staff, ensuring robust financial and operational controls, reporting procedures and systems that support growth and operational efficiency. The Director will oversee financial functions for the Augusta University Foundation and support the AVP/CFO for the Augusta University Real Estate Foundation and Augusta University Real Estate Corporation, acting as the representative of the Foundations in finance‑related matters with all university constituency groups.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Finance & Accounting staff to ensure departmental goals and objectives are met.
  • Maintain accounting systems, account and fund balances, records, and internal controls.
  • Ensure timely, accurate financial and management reporting for funders and Boards; oversee preparation and communication of monthly and annual statements.
  • Serve as strategic partner to the AVP, Foundations & CFO, coordinating development and monitoring of strategies, plans, and budgets.
  • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds; manage cash, investment and other asset balances; assist in financing strategies and banking relationships.
  • Remain current on nonprofit audit best practices and regulatory compliance; coordinate audits and tax filings.
  • Develop financial business plans and forecasts using predictive models and activity‑based analysis.
  • Coordinate short‑, medium‑, and long‑term financial plans and projections.
  • Represent Foundations to financial partners, advisors, auditors, public officials, etc.
  • Assist in developing investment policies and performance monitoring.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline and a minimum of five years’ experience in accounting at a higher education or public employer setting.
  • Supervisor experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree.
  • CPA license.
  • Ten years of financial management and accounting experience in a non‑profit organization and philanthropic setting.
  • Experience working in or with a non‑profit foundation affiliated with a public college or university.
  • Demonstrated career progression with proven ability to select, train, supervise, and motivate a professional team.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge and/or Blackbaud Raiser's Edge.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

The Director will be a self‑motivated, well‑rounded individual with strong financial accounting, reporting, and management background, and demonstrated leadership ability. Experience in non‑profit financial accounting and operations, and in a complex non‑profit organization with multiple funding sources, is desired. The Director should provide guidance to staff in financial operations and be comfortable working in an affiliate structure.

Shift / Salary

Shift: Days, Monday‑Friday (outside of normal business hours may be required). Pay Band: B17. Salary Range: $109,500–$125,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications.
