Twelve month salaried position with 12 PTO days and 10 vacation days annually. All vacation days must be approved by the Superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes the responsibility for the operation of the district's transportation system and ensures that all laws, Board policies, and administrative regulations are implemented with the exception of student discipline, which shall be carried out by the Building Principals.
  • Establishes bus stops and bus routes that promote safety and efficiency.
  • Personally check stops where complaints are received and investigate all complaints concerning student transportation.
  • Meets with the principals on specific transportation matters relative to their respective schools.
  • Establishes and periodically reviews all bus routes.
  • Check road and bridge conditions at times other than in bad weather. Inspect road conditions during period of inclement weather prior to the time that buses are scheduled to depart for their respective routes and make recommendations to assist in decisions relative to the closing of school due to such conditions.
  • Prepares reports required by the State Department for approval of transportation and disbursement of state aid.
  • Arranges for in-district and out-of-district transportation of special education students, after school activities, and other special activities.
  • Oversees and makes recommendations for improvements to district transportation facilities, equipment, and grounds.
  • Maintains knowledge of district boundaries, school attendance, area and residential growth within the district and provides up-to-date maps, as needed.
  • Keep an up-to-date Transportation Handbook.
  • Make assignments and transfers of bus drivers.
  • Attend appropriate professional meetings and conferences essential to the administration and continuing progress of the transportation department.
  • Drive routes for bus drivers when needed.
  • Maintain records required by Department of Transportation on state and federal government levels.
  • Complete bus driver evaluations (minimum twice yearly).
  • Set up all bus routes and maintains maps and schedules of each route.
