Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Hospital Laboratory Director to oversee laboratory operations and ensure high-quality, efficient, and compliant clinical services. This leadership role is responsible for driving innovation, maintaining regulatory standards, and managing staff and financial performance within a complex laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience and a background in hospital-based laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct laboratory operations, programs, and activities to meet organizational and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure appropriate staffing through effective hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and ongoing feedback to develop staff
  • Set and execute departmental strategies to meet goals related to quality, service, compliance, and patient satisfaction
  • Gather and incorporate feedback to improve laboratory performance and care delivery
  • Oversee financial operations, including resource utilization, variance analysis, and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies such as CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures with annual reviews

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry required
  • National Certification as a Medical Technologist required
  • State licensure required where applicable
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive laboratory management experience in complex environments
  • Leadership experience required

Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Prior hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
