Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Hospital Laboratory Director to oversee laboratory operations and ensure high-quality, efficient, and compliant clinical services. This leadership role is responsible for driving innovation, maintaining regulatory standards, and managing staff and financial performance within a complex laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience and a background in hospital-based laboratory operations.
Responsibilities
- Direct laboratory operations, programs, and activities to meet organizational and regulatory requirements
- Ensure appropriate staffing through effective hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
- Provide leadership, coaching, and ongoing feedback to develop staff
- Set and execute departmental strategies to meet goals related to quality, service, compliance, and patient satisfaction
- Gather and incorporate feedback to improve laboratory performance and care delivery
- Oversee financial operations, including resource utilization, variance analysis, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies such as CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures with annual reviews
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry required
- National Certification as a Medical Technologist required
- State licensure required where applicable
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive laboratory management experience in complex environments
- Leadership experience required
Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred
- Prior hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
