Job Summary
The Senior Business Analyst will support a large-scale Payments Transformation initiative with a primary focus on modernizing wire processing capabilities across Fedwire, SWIFT, and CHIPS.
This role requires deep expertise in wire payments and a strong ability to translate complex business and regulatory needs into clear functional requirements.
The position will partner closely with product, operations, compliance, architecture, and engineering teams to drive end-to-end modernization of critical wire processing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the definition and documentation of requirements for wire payments transformation initiatives.
- Provide subject matter expertise across Fedwire, SWIFT, and CHIPS payment processing.
- Analyze and document end-to-end wire processing flows, from initiation through settlement.
- Translate business and regulatory requirements into functional and non-functional specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to support solution design and modernization efforts.
- Support data mapping, message standard definitions, and integration design activities.
- Identify operational, regulatory, and settlement risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to testing strategy, user acceptance testing (UAT), and implementation readiness.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a comparable role within financial services supporting wire payments.
- Demonstrated hands-on expertise in Fedwire, SWIFT (MT and/or ISO 20022), and CHIPS wire payment flows.
- Strong background in translating business and regulatory requirements into detailed functional specifications.
- Proficiency in documenting business processes and analyzing system behaviors.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be based in the United States and able to work in a hybrid or on-site capacity as required.
- Hands-on experience with wire processing areas including:
- SWIFT message flows (MT and/or ISO 20022)
- CHIPS processing and settlement concepts
- Wire initiation, validation, repair, and release
- Cut-off times, settlement windows, and liquidity considerations
- Investigations, recalls, amendments, and exceptions
- Sanctions screening, AML, and compliance controls related to wire payments
- Experience supporting payments transformation or modernization programs.
- Knowledge of ISO 20022 migration and implementation.
- Familiarity with operational risk, settlement processes, and compliance considerations in payment systems.
- Experience with data mapping, payment message standards, and integration design.
