About Us
Miscellaneous Metals, Inc. is a leading miscellaneous steel fabrication and installation company (Division 5) serving commercial and industrial customers across the Washington, D.C. metro area. We are seeking a senior operational leader to oversee and integrate company-wide operations and support long-term leadership succession.
The Role
This role is best suited for candidates who have grown through project management and operations within a steel fabrication company and understand the full lifecycle from detailing to fabrication to field installation. The Director of Operations oversees day‑to‑day operations with a strong focus on project execution, production flow, and cross‑functional coordination. This is a hands‑on leadership role overseeing day‑to‑day operations across project management, engineering/detailing, fabrication, field operations, and safety, ensuring projects move efficiently from contract award through fabrication and installation. This position reports directly to the Owner and works closely with the President.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Project Management team, ensuring alignment of schedules, budgets, and production timelines
- Oversee weekly production and coordination meetings
- Coordinate fabrication schedules with the Shop Manager
- Oversee Engineering/Detailing and Field Operations through department leadership
- Establish and monitor operational performance metrics related to production output, schedule adherence, and labor efficiency
- Lead monthly Safety Committee meetings and promote a strong safety culture
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, safety, and quality standards
- Partner with finance on operational budgets and cost controls
- Serve as a liaison across operations, sales, estimating, HR, and customer service
Required Industry Experience (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
- 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in steel fabrication (Division 5 commercial construction)
- Proven experience managing project managers, shop operations, and production-driven environments
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or related Master’s preferred
Additional Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without a current or future employer visa sponsorship need

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $150,000 - $175,000 , commensurate with experience
