Garden City Baptist Church is a Christ‑centered, community‑engaged, mission‑driven, multigenerational church family committed to helping people know and follow Jesus. Our thriving children’s ministry serves around 25 kids weekly and is built on a foundation of gospel‑centered teaching, dynamic programming, and genuine relationships.
Position Overview:
The Children’s Ministry Director will provide leadership, vision, and oversight to all children’s programs from birth through 5th grade. This individual will work alongside dedicated volunteers and staff to create a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment where children can grow in their faith. This is a part‑time position with flexible hours and negotiable pay.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee weekly children’s ministry programming and special events
- Plan and implement faith‑based activities aligned with the church’s mission
- Serve as the point person for volunteer recruitment, training, and scheduling
- Co‑direct TeamKID and Vacation Bible School (VBS)
- Lead regular children’s ministry committee meetings
- Manage communication via email, Facebook, newsletter, or other group communication platforms
- Support administrative needs including records and safety procedures
- Substitute teach in children’s programs when needed
Qualifications:
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to disciple children
- Experience in children’s ministry or education (preferred)
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Effective communicator and team player
- Comfortable using digital tools and social media
- Will affirm and teach according to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
Position Details:
Position Type: Part‑Time (likely 15–20 hours a week depending on candidates’ availability)
Compensation: $22–27 an hour based on experience/education
Reports To: Family Ministry Pastor
