Responsibilities

Serve as the LGBTQ Education Specialist in the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Center, providing educational leadership, program development, consultation, and resources to increase capacity within school districts.

Develop and facilitate large‑scale virtual and in‑person professional learning, networking opportunities, and implementation activities that support district and school staff implementing effective LGBTQ practices.

Support the Gender‑Neutral Single‑User Restrooms grant program, providing technical assistance and coaching to district and school leaders.

Assist in the collection, development, and distribution of critical guidance and resources for educators.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the director of the center and contribute to center and MDE teams as needed.

Qualifications

Five (5) years of professional experience in K‑12 education or a master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience.

Experience leading LGBTQ programming, projects, or activities.

Experience developing and leading professional development for educators.

Experience administering education grants.

Preferred Qualifications

Community engagement with diverse populations.

Experience providing training or consultation to educators on LGBTQ+ topics.

Experience leading or implementing LGBTQ policies and practices.

Experience with anti‑bias practices and strategies.

Additional Requirements

Background check including SEMA4 Records Check, Employment Reference Check, Conflict of Interest Review, Driver’s License Check, Criminal Background Check, and Education Background Check.

Legal authorization to work in the US; no work visa sponsorship.

Telework Eligible to telework up to 50% of the time if living within 50 miles of the office. For those living 50 or more miles away, telework up to 100% with supervisory approval.
