Position Overview Our client is seeking a highly motivated Accounting Director to support the company’s growing accounting and financial reporting function. This role will report directly to the VP of Finance and will oversee core accounting operations including the general ledger, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
The Accounting Director will manage a team of four General Ledger accountants and play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with GAAP. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capabilities, and experience working in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting and project-based revenue recognition is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the general ledger and financial reporting processes for the organization.
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial results.
Manage and mentor a team of four GL accountants, providing guidance, oversight, and professional development.
Prepare and review internal financial statements and management reporting packages.
Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards and company accounting policies.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting.
Support the VP of Finance with technical accounting matters and financial reporting initiatives.
Partner with FP&A to ensure alignment between financial reporting and operational performance metrics.
Assist with audit coordination, including preparation of schedules and responding to auditor requests.
Support accounting for project-based revenue and percentage-of-completion accounting where applicable.
Oversee and support multi-entity and multi-level consolidation processes across the organization.
Assist with foreign currency translation and reporting for international operations where applicable.
Drive improvements in accounting processes, systems, and documentation.
Assist with accounting integration and reporting related to acquisitions or new business units as the company grows.
Qualifications
Active CPA license required.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Finance or related field may be considered with strong accounting experience).
6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or corporate accounting.
Prior experience managing or mentoring accounting staff preferred.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting or project-based accounting strongly preferred.
Experience with multi-entity and multi-level consolidation accounting preferred.
Experience with foreign currency reporting or FX translation is a plus.
Advanced proficiency in Excel.
Experience with NetSuite is preferred.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Compensation:
$140,000 - $165,000 salary plus 20% bonus
