Job Description:
UTK invites applications for an Operations, Employer Relations & Student Support Specialist position. Candidates should help enhance access to higher education, promote diversity and inclusion, and improve student recruitment and graduation. The position has a minimum starting salary of $36,841, with final compensation based on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities This on‑campus role offers hybrid/remote flexibility. The Specialist will administer the Federal Work‑Study program, providing direct service to students and campus employers, managing onboarding and payroll workflows, maintaining accurate data across institutional systems, and ensuring compliance with Financial Aid, HR, and Payroll procedures. The position reports to the Campus‑Based Coordinator and supports daily operational processes for a compliant, student‑centered employment experience.
Qualifications Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or at least two years of experience in accounting and/or payroll.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Well‑developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and meet deadlines.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis without current or future need for employment‑based visa sponsorship.
Preferred Education And Experience:
Associate’s degree.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work under stress while handling sensitive financial matters and maintaining student confidentiality.
Working knowledge of the University payroll system and of personnel or Human Resources functions.
Ability to manage dates and deadlines.
