Part Time Executive Director
Growth Coalition, Baton Rouge, LA, United States
Founded in 1994, the Growth Coalition is a Baton Rouge-based nonprofit with a 30-year track record of championing smart, sustainable development across the greater Capital Region. We unite real estate developers, builders, engineers, architects, realtors, and allied industry professionals to amplify pro-growth voices and drive meaningful economic outcomes across Ascension, Livingston, West Baton Rouge, St. George, and EBR.
The Opportunity
With a committed Board of Directors, the Coalition is seeking a dynamic Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter.
This is a flexible, part-time executive role — reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with the Executive Committee and Board Chair, the ED will supervise one part-time administrative support staff member and serve as the visible, trusted advocate for the Coalition across city halls, parish councils, and business community settings.
The ideal candidate is an entrepreneur, civic leader, or experienced professional who brings an established network and can plug in with presence and purpose.
Core Responsibilities
Community Presence & Relationship Building
- Represent the Coalition at council meetings, parish hearings, and civic events across the Capital Region (including occasional late-afternoon government meetings)
- Maintain productive relationships with elected officials, municipal leaders, and key stakeholders in the Greater Baton Rouge area
- Serve as a trusted, accessible face for the organization in the business and development community
Membership Growth & Engagement
- Recruit new members and retain existing ones across the Coalition's tiered membership structure
- Organize luncheons and membership events with compelling programming and strong attendance
- Meet one-on-one with members to demonstrate value and understand their priorities
Advocacy & Strategic Positioning
- Monitor local and state policy developments that affect growth and development in the region
- Coordinate advocacy efforts aligned with board-approved positions — without taking political sides
- Position the Coalition as a proactive thought leader, not a reactive one
Board Partnership & Operations
- Report to the Board of Directors; maintain close communication with the Executive Committee and Board Chair
- Prepare agendas and strategic recommendations for board meetings
- Oversee budget management, administrative operations, and one part-time staff member
Who We're Looking For
- Well-connected and well-respected in the Greater Baton Rouge business and civic community
- A natural relationship-builder
- Politically aware but nonpartisan — comfortable navigating complex environments without alienating stakeholders
- Comfortable representing the Growth Coalition in public forums, government meetings, and member events
- Organized and trustworthy, with the ability to manage a small team and report to a governing board
Preferred Background
- Experience in nonprofit leadership, business advocacy, economic development, public policy, or government relations
- Familiarity with the real estate development, construction, or land use landscape in Louisiana
- Experience working with or reporting to a governing board
