## DescriptionThis position offers an intern(s) the opportunity to work and gain an applicable working knowledge of the asset management and property management functions in support of the Property Management, Real Estate Development, or related programs at Virginia Tech. This internship will provide networking opportunities, exposure to a variety of positions in the field of affordable housing, and the chance to develop a deeper understanding of what it is to work for a large non-profit organization. The intern will work remotely and in person for a set period of time, hours determined based on semester availability. Interns may have the opportunity to work in person at various CHP property locations as deemed reasonable per the student’s course schedule. Work hours will be managed to accommodate the student’s course schedule. At least one meeting per work week with the internship supervisor is required, and if the intern expresses an interest in learning about other aspects of CHP’s work, every effort will be made to provide additional exposure. This opportunity is available for one semester.**Job Objectives****Develop a foundational, working knowledge of asset management and property management functions that support Property Management, Real Estate Development, and related programs at Virginia Tech**.Shadow and support core asset and property management processes while completing assigned projects accurately and on time. Gain a working understanding of affordable housing regulations, reporting requirements, and operational workflows through hands-on experience and supervisor feedback.**Requirements*** Active student in Property Management, Real Estate Development, or related programs at Virginia Tech.* Completed coursework in affordable housing and property/asset management is required.* Desire to develop strong office and collaboration skills.* Good written and verbal communication skills.* Familiarity with Excel spreadsheets, electronic file systems, and general computer and search skills is a plus.* Must possess an appropriate remote work environment to include a work area free of tripping hazards; adequate lighting, and an appropriate work surface to include a desk or table and chair. Must have access to reliable broadband internet.* Ability to secure and maintain reliable transportation to travel to the Christiansburg office and other local properties as business needs require.**Hours**This 8-week internship takes place during the Summer 2026 semester and is scheduled for **30 hours per week**.**About the Company:**CHP works to create homes and communities that are healthy, sustainable, and affordable.
