Performance Responsibilities
Coordinate and promote the process of referrals and other services to outside agencies.
Review and conduct conferences on student referrals.
Review and revise the management of referrals as needed.
Collect and review data on exclusion, detention, suspension, and expulsion.
Act as the school system's agent in preparation of expulsion hearings.
Serve as a liaison between home and the school in disciplinary cases.
Responsible for implementation of In‑School Learning Centers.
Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, community, and at‑risk students.
Work with local law enforcement agencies as needed.
Responsible for the implementation of School Resource Officer programs.
Direct and support the implementation of policy.
Direct and maintain CPI training.
Train principals and other appropriate personnel in safe and supportive school policies and procedures.
Develop and maintain effective relations with other service providers; promote positive inter‑agency relations.
Create and review processes of data collection in student management, including Disciplinary Referral Forms.
Complete and file all local and state reports in a timely fashion.
Report data collection analysis to principals at each school.
Review and recommend revisions to the Safe Schools Plan.
Review and support alternative approaches to education.
Oversee the operation of the Raleigh County Alternative Education Program.
Conduct student entrance/exit conferences for the Alternative Education Program.
Review and revise the process for students in the Alternative Education Program.
Work with Alternative Education staff to promote a positive public image.
Provide leadership in the development and advancement of the Alternative Education Program.
Provide leadership for the implementation of identified behavior programs (e.g., PBIS).
Serve as member of district's Behavior Leadership Team.
Review and revise policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local initiatives for WVBE Policy 4373.
Serve as Title II Compliance Officer.
Serve as Title IX Coordinator.
Keep informed of WVSSAC Rules and Guidelines.
Provide leadership in athletics and work with principals and athletic directors to ensure WVSSAC compliance.
Review and approve all extracurricular trips.
Provide leadership for the Communities in Schools program.
Prepare and submit reports, as required.
Provide information to the Raleigh County Board of Education, as required.
Attend all Board meetings.
Any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications Master's degree in an education‑related field.
Valid WV teaching and administrative certificate.
At least five years of successful experience as a school or central office administrator.
Knowledge of county and state policies as they relate to pupil services.
Ability to use relevant technology.
To have kept abreast of developments in school administration.
Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A3-10, as appropriate; Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.
