What You Will Do:

  • Oversee all physical plant operations, including maintenance, safety, and engineering functions in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards
  • Manage and execute work order systems and preventative maintenance programs
  • Monitor the condition of buildings and grounds; plan for maintenance, repairs, supplies, and equipment needs
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, architects, and engineers as needed
  • Administer the community’s Risk Management and Safety Programs
  • Lead and assign projects to the engineering team, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and safely
  • Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and training programs
  • Hire, train, and supervise engineering staff; provide ongoing coaching and performance management
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and staffing plans
  • Ensure proper use of resources while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for leading and managing the Engineering department. The role requires independent judgment, strong leadership, and effective decision-making.

Why You Are Qualified:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in physical plant operations, preferably in senior living or a related environment
  • Hands‑on experience with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • EPA Certification or ability to obtain within the first 6 months
  • Strong working knowledge of tools, equipment, and repair techniques
  • Experience with fire systems, emergency response systems, and disaster preparedness
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 25 pounds
