What You Will Do:
- Oversee all physical plant operations, including maintenance, safety, and engineering functions in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards
- Manage and execute work order systems and preventative maintenance programs
- Monitor the condition of buildings and grounds; plan for maintenance, repairs, supplies, and equipment needs
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, architects, and engineers as needed
- Administer the community’s Risk Management and Safety Programs
- Lead and assign projects to the engineering team, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and safely
- Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and training programs
- Hire, train, and supervise engineering staff; provide ongoing coaching and performance management
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and staffing plans
- Ensure proper use of resources while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
- Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for leading and managing the Engineering department. The role requires independent judgment, strong leadership, and effective decision-making.
Why You Are Qualified:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in physical plant operations, preferably in senior living or a related environment
- Hands‑on experience with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
- EPA Certification or ability to obtain within the first 6 months
- Strong working knowledge of tools, equipment, and repair techniques
- Experience with fire systems, emergency response systems, and disaster preparedness
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 25 pounds
