607 Shelby St, Detroit, MI 48226 (on-site with occasional remote flexibility) Position Summary:
Combine property management and administrative support duties to oversee day‑to‑day operations for multiple residential units. Primary responsibilities include tenant relations, lease administration, rent processing, coordination of maintenance/contractors, and office/clerical tasks to support smooth property operations. Key Responsibilities
Tenant relations: respond to inquiries/complaints, screen prospective tenants, conduct move‑in/move‑out inspections, enforce lease terms. Leasing & documentation: prepare, execute, and renew leases; collect and process applications and deposits; maintain tenant files and records. Rent & accounting support: process rent payments, prepare rent statements, follow up on late payments/evictions in coordination with owners and legal counsel; assist with basic bookkeeping and expense tracking. Maintenance coordination: receive maintenance requests, schedule and supervise contractors, obtain quotes, ensure timely completion and quality control. Administrative duties: answer phones, manage email and correspondence, schedule appointments, manage office supplies, prepare reports for owners (occupancy, income/expenses, maintenance status). Compliance & safety: ensure properties comply with local housing codes, safety standards, and landlord‑tenant laws; coordinate inspections and necessary repairs. Communication & reporting: provide regular updates to property owners, prepare monthly property performance summaries, and maintain accurate records in property management software. Work 40 hours/week. Qualifications
1+ years property management or related experience (residential preferred) OR equivalent administrative experience in real estate/realty. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication; professional tenant-facing demeanor. Basic accounting/bookkeeping knowledge (accounts receivable, reconciliations). Familiarity with landlord‑tenant law and Detroit housing codes a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning property management software (e.g., Doorloop) and online payment platforms. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for property visits. College degree required. Certification in property management or real estate preferred. Preferred Skills
Conflict resolution and customer‑service orientation. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently. Experience coordinating contractors and maintenance projects. Bilingual (English/Spanish/Chinese) is a plus. Work Schedule
Full‑time, typical office hours on‑site with occasional remote flexibility and occasional evenings/weekends for emergencies. Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base pay based on experience, range $48K‑60K/year. Performance bonuses $10K‑40K/year, up to $100K combined. Benefits may include 10 paid public holidays and 10 days paid time off. Health insurance. 401(k).
