About the Opportunity A leading global law firm is seeking a highly qualified Senior Associate to join its market-leading Asset Management Transactions practice. This is an exceptional opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-value transactions across the global asset management and financial services sector.
The team advises on the full spectrum of corporate transactions involving asset managers, investment funds, broker-dealers, financial advisors, and other ancillary financial services businesses. With deep industry expertise, strong regulatory capability, and a truly global platform, the practice supports clients in navigating complex transactions while managing risk and achieving strategic business objectives.
The Practice The team works across the US, Europe, Middle East, and Asia, advising a diverse client base including asset managers, private equity firms, GP staking firms, banks, insurance companies, other financial institutions, founders, management teams, and boards of directors.
Core areas of work include:
Asset management M&A and investment fund transactions Full buy-out and control transactions Minority GP stakes transactions Joint ventures Management team spin-outs, lift-outs, and carve-outs Corporate restructurings, separations, and succession planning Continuation fund transactions Preferred equity solutions Structured and synthetic secondaries LP portfolio sales NAV financings Strip sales and tender offers Investment regulatory, enforcement, and compliance matters
The Role This position is suited to a 5th through 8th year associate with strong experience in asset management M&A, particularly GP stakes and control transactions.
Key responsibilities include:
Advising clients on complex M&A transactions involving asset managers and investment platforms Leading GP stakes and control asset management transactions Supporting joint ventures, carve-outs, restructurings, and strategic investments Advising on liquidity solutions including continuation funds, preferred equity, and secondaries transactions Working closely with clients on transaction structuring and execution Collaborating across multidisciplinary teams on regulatory, financing, and strategic matters
Candidate Profile
Minimum 4 years’ experience in asset management M&A from a leading law firm Strong experience in GP stakes and control asset management transactions Exposure to sophisticated private equity and investment fund structures Excellent drafting, negotiation, and transaction management skills Strong academic credentials Commercially minded with excellent client-facing skills Ability to manage complex cross-border matters in a fast-paced environment
