Assistant Middle School Athletic Director File 402
Reports to: Athletic Director
Job Objective: Helps direct the ongoing improvement of interscholastic athletic programs.
Minimum valid state department of education license/certificate appropriate for the position.
Qualifications
Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test, etc.).
A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
Complies with drug‑free workplace rules and board policies.
Keeps current with technology and other workplace innovations that support job functions.
Completion of pupil activity supervisor validation requirements (e.g., first aid/CPR, etc.).
Comprehensive knowledge of interscholastic athletic program regulations.
Essential Functions
Helps administer the district’s interscholastic athletic program and ensure all athletes receive appropriate instruction, support, and opportunities to participate.
Upholds board policies, follows administrative procedures, and promotes a professional image of the school district.
Maintains visibility, promotes the district’s mission, philosophy, and vision, and serves as a liaison to the community with open and effective communication.
Set up, site‑manage, and close district athletic facilities for middle school home events; attend middle school away events as directed.
Helps administer the board‑approved budget for assigned areas of responsibility and ensure equitable apportionment of program resources.
Participates in short/long‑range planning to ensure adequate facilities are provided, manages resources, and administers community use of athletic facilities; encourages program innovations.
Represents the district at athletic league meetings as directed.
Helps monitor interscholastic athletic regulations, recommends administrative procedures, and participates in due process procedures.
Helps resolve problems.
Participates in staff selection and orientation, verifies coaches’ qualifications, reviews procedures and schedules with staff before the season.
Secures game officials, hires home‑game personnel, processes payment vouchers, and ensures dispute resolution.
Expresses high expectations and monitors staff performance through observations, consultations, meetings, and locally developed appraisal standards.
Helps develop and distribute a program calendar, coordinate scheduling, publicize activities, and respond to information requests.
Updates and distributes athletic program handbooks, game programs, and brochures.
Develops and implements a ticket sales policy; assists with pre‑game ticket sales.
Prepares game reports and attendance records, ensures receipt/expense records suitable for audits, and makes bank deposits.
Encourages student involvement, maintains medical records, verifies scholastic eligibility, and promotes academic success.
Ensures equipment appropriate for participants’ development and skill level.
Arranges transportation and lodging for sanctioned activities; obtains permission when duties conflict.
Assists with optional student insurance program, ensures waivers for those who decline coverage.
Upholds the student conduct code, maintains high expectations, models respectful behavior, assists coaches with discipline, prepares conduct reports.
Organizes athletic recognition programs and verifies participants have fulfilled requirements for letters, awards, certificates.
Provides guidance, communicates expectations, and shows active interest in student progress.
Promotes a safe, efficient, and effective work/learning environment, monitors safety, and manages risk factors.
Assists with collection, entry, and verification of program data.
Ensures accurate and timely completion of reports, records, inventories.
Respects personal privacy and confidentiality.
Reports suspected child abuse
eglect to civil authorities.
Encourages parent organizations, supports school-sponsored activities, works closely with the athletic boosters association.
Participates in professional growth opportunities to advance district goals.
Strives to develop rapport and serves as positive role model.
Maintains professional appearance and appropriate work attire.
