
Financial & Underwriting Analyst

SUMMARY
Responsible for providing the Consulting Team with financial and analytic support on client projects, including, but not limited to, updating claims experience reports and reserve calculations, modeling plan design alternatives, summarizing RFP responses and maintaining state and municipality ordinances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual claims utilization versus budget reports;
Provides support for development of reserve calculations for self-funded health plans;
Supports clients’ health and welfare renewal process by inputting enrollment information, carrier renewals, pricing of benefit changes, and organizing financial data for presentations to clients;
Provides support for marketing proposals by requesting RFPs, verifying benefits, premium rates and market competitiveness;
Assists clients with maintaining compliance with state and municipality ordinances;
Assists with benchmarking and trend analysis as needed;
Serves as technical support, assisting other team members to resolve financial issues;
Engages in optimal and appropriate usage of applicable software programs;
Complies with agency management system data standards and data integrity (enters and maintains complete and accurate information);
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two (2) or more years of related work experience
Must continue to meet Continuing Education requirements for license renewal
Encouraged to complete Career Path requirements as communicated by supervisor
Valid Insurance License within 120 Days
SKILLS
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Good leadership, problem solving and time management skills
Good planning, organizational and prioritization skills
Ability and motivation to work independently
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly in Excel
