Board of Directors
Confidential, Pittsburgh, PA, United States
A client is seeking new members for its Board of Directors. This organization provides services to people who use drugs, aims to change the stigmatizing narrative around drug use, and scales harm reduction strategies. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the organization serves people throughout Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, and surrounding areas with syringe services and overdose prevention programs. Board membership is open to individuals residing outside Pittsburgh city limits, and prior board experience is a plus but not mandatory since training will be provided to all board members. The ideal candidates will have experience in areas such as harm reduction, finances, leadership, fundraising, policy, public health, law, addiction services, and related fields, or possess lived experiences that align with the organization's mission. Board responsibilities include using one's experience to support the organization's mission, participating in the hiring and evaluation of the executive director, engaging in strategic planning, and representing the organization in the community. Members are expected to attend monthly meetings, primarily virtual, and contribute to at least one committee or workgroup while maintaining confidentiality. An involvement in fundraising through donations, event participation, or sponsorships is also required. Individuals interested in joining the board are encouraged to submit their resume and a statement describing their interest. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with further details provided to those shortlisted. The organization strongly values the participation of communities most affected by the overdose epidemic and barriers to care, such as people who use drugs, people in recovery, and members of the LGBTQ community. It promotes an inclusive environment, welcoming applicants of all racial, religious, and gender backgrounds, as well as individuals with disabilities or those with other protected characteristics as per legal standards.
