A highly selective, privately backed investment platform is seeking a Principal / Managing Director to join its Structured Equity & Hybrid Capital investing team in New York.
This is a senior, front-line investing role with direct capital allocation responsibility, significant autonomy, and full-cycle involvement across sourcing, structuring, execution, and portfolio management.
The platform focuses on non-sponsored, direct investments across the capital structure, with a core emphasis on:
- Structured equity
- Preferred equity
- Hybrid capital solutions
- Opportunistic debt/equity structures
- Specialty finance and complex capital situations
The strategy sits between traditional private equity and credit, targeting situations requiring bespoke structuring, downside protection, and asymmetric equity upside .
Candidate Profile
- 10–20+ years of experience in private equity, structured credit, special situations, or opportunistic investing
- Deep expertise in structured equity / preferred equity / hybrid capital
- Proven experience executing non-sponsored or complex transactions
- Strong command of capital structure analysis and downside protection frameworks
- Track record of leading transactions end-to-end with autonomy
- Entrepreneurial, commercially driven mindset
Responsibilities
- Originate and lead proprietary, sponsorless transactions
- Structure and execute hybrid capital and structured equity investments
- Lead underwriting, diligence, and investment committee workstreams
- Negotiate complex capital structures across debt and equity layers
- Oversee portfolio company performance and value creation initiatives
- Drive investment theses and contribute to capital deployment strategy
