Position Purpose
Strategic Analysts serve as a foundation for fundraising and alumni relations initiatives across Dartmouth, including the President’s Office and the professional schools. They are responsible for creating, managing, analyzing, and driving all prospect and donor data‑mining efforts to help meet operating and capital fundraising goals and extend institutional relationships.

Description
Dartmouth Advancement is seeking two Prospect Research Analysts to join the Research and Prospect Management team. In this role you will be at the heart of driving innovative data‑mining efforts that contribute to Dartmouth’s fundraising successes.

Key responsibilities include:

Drive prospect data‑mining efforts, develop and manage prospect portfolios, and manage prospect management reports.

Develop strategy briefings that impact fundraising goals.

Work side‑by‑side with fundraisers, identify high‑potential prospects, and develop smart strategies that bring prospects to a yes.

Collaborate with multiple campus partners to generate prospect pools and assess ratings.

Provide consultative services to researchers, programmers, and fundraising staff on research methodologies and resources.

Ensure all data is managed with the highest level of sensitivity and maintained per policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned (5%).

Required Qualifications – Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications – Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Three plus years’ experience in development or similar industry.

Proficiency in technology, including Microsoft Office, databases, and internet searches.

Excellent research, problem‑solving, and analytical skills, including ability to analyze and interpret business and financial data and information.

High level of initiative and follow‑through with the ability to organize work, meet deadlines, coordinate projects, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Strong writing skills with the ability to compose concise, focused research documents with attention to accuracy and detail to support identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship processes.

Strong customer service, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the ability to motivate and work effectively with groups and individuals.

Sound judgment, tact and discretion in handling confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

Formal instruction in or knowledge of business, financial analysis, statistical methods, information systems, techniques of corporate and biographical research and report writing.

Demonstrated experience in prospect research (or related field), data analysis, advanced analytical tools and databases, internet resources, and other references.

Specialized training in research methodology, or equivalent.
