Responsibilities
Lead and deliver educational programs focused on small farms and livestock production, forage systems management, and best management practices to promote efficiency, sustainability, and environmentally sound principles for Santa Rosa County clientele.
Provide excellent customer service to the small farm industry through phone, email, social media, and in-person interactions.
Assist in community food initiatives, community‑supported agriculture, farm‑to‑consumer efforts, farmers markets, and agri‑tourism opportunities—including Farm‑City Week—by building networks and marketing strategies that strengthen relationships among producers, consumers, and local decision makers.
Conduct needs‑based assessments and build advisory committees to develop programmatic priorities and design.
Collaborate with Northwest District Program Implementation Teams to plan, teach, and evaluate virtual and face‑to‑face educational programs.
Create strategies for program enhancement, including fee‑based events, sponsorships, and grants, while managing fiscal accountability components.
Promote educational programs and engage with the community through TV, radio, and print media to raise awareness of Extension’s mission and expertise.
Supervise, mentor, support, and evaluate county faculty members and staff, managing the business side of UF/IFAS Extension Santa Rosa County, including financial and compliance oversight.
Collaborate closely with county administration, government, and the Extension community to secure resources and support.
Develop and maintain a strategic plan for the UF/IFAS Extension program and lead the overall advisory committee reflective of county demographics.
Adhere to all UF and Santa Rosa County policies, and provide leadership in managing all program components.
Collaborate with the District Extension Director and CEDs to strengthen outcomes across the Northwest District.
Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the District Extension Director and County Administrator.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in agriculture, animal sciences, or a related discipline.
At least five years of professional Extension experience or equivalent.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Evidence of exceptional leadership, collaboration, and partnership with varied audiences, community leaders, agencies, media, and the public.
Ability to possess or obtain a Florida driver’s license.
Flexibility with working hours, including travel overnight and occasional evening, weekend, or irregular hours.
Willingness to reside in Santa Rosa County or a directly adjacent county.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous CED experience or equivalent.
Prior experience in livestock, forage, or agriculture‑related Extension programs or as an Extension agent.
Expertise in building collaborative team environments that drive goal achievement and manage competing priorities.
Experience in office operations, budgeting, and fiscal management.
Experience managing volunteers and supporting team members.
Strong commitment to education and county‑level initiatives.
Technological literacy in communication, marketing, and program management tools such as social media and Microsoft Office Suite.
Outstanding people‑management, coaching, mentoring, and motivation skills.
Leadership, problem‑solving, and political navigation skills.
Experience in creating vision, building buy‑in, and fostering an inclusive environment.
