
Assistant Production Manager

As an Assistant Production Manager, you’ll support the product development and production process from concept through execution, helping to ensure product details, approvals, and timelines are managed accurately and on schedule. This role is ideal for a product development recent college graduate who is eager to build foundational experience in apparel production, learn cross‑functional ways of working, and develop strong technical and organizational skills in a fast‑paced retail environment. You’ll partner closely with Merchandising, Design, and external vendors to help keep development moving forward and support the timely execution of key milestones.
Responsibilities
Track product approvals, lab dip submissions, and key development milestones to ensure accurate and timely information flow across internal and external partners
Assist in maintaining time and action calendars to support adherence to development and production deadlines
Update Production reports with key dates and status changes to ensure in‑season accuracy and visibility
Support the maintenance of development and production trackers, helping the team stay organized against key deliverables
Follow up with vendors and suppliers on product details, approvals, and outstanding development needs
Monitor vendor work in process and shipping exception reports under the guidance of your supervisor
Help coordinate prototype samples for line review and customs approval as needed
Ensure product information is consistent and up to date across vendor communications and internal systems
Communicate with Design, Merchandising, and other related teams to ensure style details and specifications are aligned
Help maintain accuracy of adopted style profiles and product records throughout the development lifecycle
Support the team in resolving discrepancies related to product details, timing, or sample status
Build strong working relationships across functions to help keep development moving smoothly and efficiently
Qualifications
Required
Internship experience or up to 1 year of experience in product development, production, or a related field
Basic garment or apparel construction knowledge
Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong follow‑up habits
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Preferred
Internship or early experience in apparel product development or production
Exposure to PLM or similar product lifecycle management systems
Interest in building a career in product development, production, or sourcing
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, stay organized, and work collaboratively across teams
