Job Summary
The Network Engineer is primarily engaged in designing, troubleshooting, installing, and configuring network hardware and software to effectively integrate the network with the customer’s environment including servers, switches, and other networking devices. The Network Engineer will document, demonstrate and transfer knowledge regarding the setup and operation of each individual solution being delivered directly with the customer for future support needs. The Network Engineer will also provide the customer with written documentation including configurations, procedures, and diagrams of the solution. The Network Engineer will work with senior-level engineers to design and implement network solutions based on best practices.
Essential Functions
Troubleshoot networking issues.
Resolve escalated issues & assigned tasks from other internal teams.
Install, configure, monitor, test, and maintain firewalls, access points, switches, and other network infrastructures.
Provide support for customers’ server environments.
Support identity infrastructure such as Entra ID and Active Directory.
Provide expert knowledge of network protocols such as DNS, DHCP, and routing.
Specify system requirements and design solutions.
Perform customer onsite visits to troubleshoot, repair, install networking equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot Cloud infrastructure, such as Azure VMs, Azure VPN, Gateways, Entra ID, & Microsoft Intune.
Provide input and evaluate new technology.
Travel to customer sites for diagnosis and remediation of discovered issues.
Other Duties
Participate in special projects as required.
Assist in on‑call after‑hours phone rotation as needed.
Accomplish all other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field or 2+ years experience in related field.
Relevant certifications are highly preferred: CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft AZ‑104, Microsoft AZ‑700, Palo Alto PCNSA, Palo Alto PSNSE.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Experience with networking techniques is required.
Experience with Cisco, HP, SonicWall, Palo Alto, and Ubiquiti networking equipment is preferred.
Experience with networking including IP Addressing/Subnetting, VLANs, port aggregation, DNS, DHCP, RDP, LDAP, is required.
Experience with virtualization platforms including VMware and Hyper‑V is required.
Ability to support and troubleshoot server‑based software issues with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and newer, Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Microsoft PowerShell, major EDR solutions, and enterprise‑class backup solutions.
Experience with DUO is preferred.
Knowledge in troubleshooting and resolving workstation‑based software issues with Microsoft Windows 10 and 11, Microsoft Office applications, and domain and workgroup environments.
Ability to travel the Northeastern US as needed.
