Position Summary
The Network Engineer will be responsible for the network design, implementation, and maintenance tasks for Herschend and associated properties. The Network Engineer will report directly to the Director of Infrastructure and work under the supervision of the Network Engineering Team Lead.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
This role will be hands‑on, requiring a high level of technical network expertise.

Successful resolution of complex network support issues

Interfacing with internal customers and external vendors to provide specific network‑related technical support

A key contributor in the delivery of complex projects related to the networking business requirements of Herschend and associated properties

Design, build, and maintain complex architecture of network systems and devices across multiple properties

The scope includes, but is not limited to:

Azure

Routers

Switches

Load balancers

Wireless controllers and access points

Meraki wireless and switches

IP Voice technologies

Carrier and service provider service delivery technologies

Some over‑night travel is expected to support new implementations, onsite maintenance, and migration efforts. Expected travel is less than 20%.

Experience & Education

Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and/or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

8+ years working experience with Cisco IOS devices including configuration, management, and troubleshooting.

2+ years working in cloud environments such as Azure.

Working experience in monitoring and troubleshooting Enterprise business and large‑scale LAN/WAN environments including routers, switches, and load balancers.

Detailed knowledge and experience in various network technologies, services, and protocols that are typical of a large enterprise network including VPC, BGP, MPLS, OSPF, EIGRP, and QoS.

Experience with Wireless Control Systems and Access Point technologies.

Strong understanding of change control methodologies and experience implementing and modifying change processes and procedures as necessary.

Skills & Qualifications

Must be able to design, configure, and troubleshoot dynamic routing protocols including BGP/OSPF/EIGRP.

Hands on experience with Azure networking.

Hands on experience with Nexus VPC and layer 2 technologies such as VLANs, LACP, 802.1q Trunking, and STP.

Must be able to configure and troubleshoot ACL’s/Route maps/prefix lists/VRF.

Must be able to discover, assess, design, and implement as it relates to network initiatives.

Must be able to document network designs and as‑built thoroughly using Microsoft Visio.

Experience installing/cabling network equipment in a data center.

Minimum CCNP level hands on experience.

Proven ability to work collaboratively as a team player.

Self‑starter with strong initiative and motivation.

Willingness and eagerness to coach and mentor junior‑level team members.

Open‑minded, with the desire and ability to listen to and consider input from others.

Reliable transportation for commuting and work‑related travel.

Flexibility to work outside standard “8‑5” hours to support maintenance windows and outages.

Strong ownership mentality, with the ability and drive to manage projects from start to finish.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Excellent analytical skills and the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Excellent organizational skills including the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and changing environment.

CCNP Certification Preferred

Azure Certification Preferred

Proficiency in:

Meraki Switches/AP’s, Cisco Nexus 9k switches

Linux

Virtualization (VMWare)

NGINX load balancers

Nagios Monitoring

Azure Cloud
