
Quality Engineer (Danbury)

The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance processes to ensure PMC-STS products meet customer, regulatory, and internal requirements. This role works closely with design, manufacturing, and supplier teams to drive continuous improvement and reduce defects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Assurance & Control
Develop and implement quality control plans, inspection methods, and testing procedures for electronic components and assemblies.
Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Perform root cause analysis on defects and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
2. Process Improvement
Use methodologies like
Six Sigma ,
Lean Manufacturing , and
Statistical Process Control
to reduce variation and improve yield.
Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
3. Supplier Quality Management
Evaluate and qualify suppliers
Conduct supplier audits and manage incoming quality issues.
4. Testing & Validation
Define and oversee functional, environmental, and reliability testing of electronic products.
Ensure compliance with standards such as
ISO 9001 ,
IPC
(e.g., IPC-A-610), and regulatory requirements.
5. Documentation & Compliance
Maintain quality documentation including control plans, inspection reports, and nonconformance reports.
Support internal and external audits.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with R&D, manufacturing, and production teams to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for quality (DFQ).
Provide training to production staff on quality standards and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
2–5+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing or quality engineering.
Familiarity with quality tools (FMEA, 8D, Pareto analysis, fishbone diagrams).
Understanding of industry standards (IPC, ISO).
Preferred Qualifications
Certification such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) from
American Society for Quality .
Experience with failure analysis techniques and reliability testing.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, CE).
Knowledge of sensors
