Job Title: Network Engineer

Salary Range: $85,000 - $125,000
Job Summary
This role is responsible for the design, operation, and continual enhancement of a large-scale network environment supporting multiple sites across North America and interfacing with international networks. The position ensures that network services remain secure, reliable, and scalable to support both current operations and future growth. The successful candidate will contribute to shared IT services by maintaining high availability, performance, and security across enterprise and field environments.
Roles & Responsibilities
Design, implement, and administer enterprise-wide WAN, LAN, WLAN, VPN, and remote access solutions
Configure and maintain network connectivity, including internet access, zero-trust components, and secure site-to-site and client VPNs
Monitor network performance, availability, and security using logs, alerts, and user feedback
Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues to minimize downtime
Perform routine testing to validate speed, reliability, and security of network systems
Collaborate with technical teams to conduct audits and recommend improvements to performance and resiliency
Manage firewall rules, switching infrastructure, and network segmentation policies
Plan and execute network upgrades, expansions, and hardware refresh initiatives
Analyze competing priorities across multiple projects to determine sequencing and resource allocation
Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in network design and operations
Ensure adherence to internal controls, technical standards, and applicable regulations
Support information security initiatives by applying best practices to protect data and systems
Create and maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, procedures, and change records
Assist with requirements gathering, technical analysis, and project coordination as needed
Serve as an escalation point for advanced network support issues
Provide guidance and mentorship to other technical staff
Support on-site, remote, after-hours, and emergency network needs
Travel periodically to regional locations for installations, upgrades, or critical troubleshooting
Required Skills & Experience
Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field; equivalent experience and certifications considered
Demonstrated experience managing and supporting complex, multi-site network environments
Strong knowledge of enterprise networking concepts and technologies, including routing, switching, and security platforms (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco, Aruba, or similar)
Hands-on experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 switch configuration and management (3+ years preferred)
Industry certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Security+, or comparable credentials preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Visio and project tracking applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to support both on-site and remote users
Ability to occasionally lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds
Willingness to travel up to 25% as business needs require
