
Direct Support Professional (DSP) - 3rd Shift

Location: Summit Residential Care Jackson, MI Reports To: Home Manager / Administrator Shift: 3rd shift 10:30 pm to 6:30 am Pay Range: $15.00$17.00/hour (based on experience, certification, and shift) Essential Functions and Responsibilities The responsibilities listed below represent the core duties of the role but are not intended to be an exhaustive list. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support operations and resident care. Resident Care and Support Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and mobility support Provide supervision and ensure resident safety at all times Support residents with mobility aids, transfers, and fall prevention Promote independence while maintaining dignity and respect Health Monitoring and Documentation Observe and document changes in residents physical, emotional, and cognitive condition Maintain accurate, timely, and objective documentation including ADL logs and behavioral observations Report all significant changes or concerns to the Home Manager or Administrator immediately Medication Administration Administer medications as directed and in accordance with physician orders and AFC licensing requirements Accurately document all medication administration on required logs Follow all protocols related to medication storage, handling, refusals, and errors Meals and Nutrition Prepare and serve balanced meals in accordance with dietary requirements Assist residents with eating as needed Follow all food safety and sanitation standards Environment and Safety Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home environment Identify and address potential safety hazards Follow all emergency procedures including fire safety, medical emergencies, and evacuation protocols Resident Engagement Engage residents in social, recreational, and cognitive activities Support memory care activities and emotional well being Compliance and Regulatory Responsibilities Perform all duties in accordance with Michigan Adult Foster Care (AFC) licensing rules and regulations Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and documentation standards Immediately report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of residents in accordance with state law and company policy Always uphold and protect resident rights Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED Valid Michigan drivers license and reliable transportation Ability to pass criminal background check, health screening, and TB test as required Strong communication skills and professionalism Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Willingness to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays Preferred Experience in elderly care, assisted living, or dementia care CPR and First Aid certification Training in memory care techniques Familiarity with Michigan AFC licensing standards Physical Requirements Ability to lift, transfer, and assist residents (up to 50 lbs.)
