Multiple, Tenured Faculty Positions in Microelectronics Design and Nanoscale Engineering
Position Summary
Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) is engaged in a multi-year initiative to expand research activities in microelectronics design and nanoscale engineering. The Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering invites applications for multiple tenure-track positions at the associate or full professor rank to begin in the Fall of 2026. Appointments will be in the Intelligent Systems Engineering department, or other departments such as Computer Science and Informatics.
We welcome applicants in all areas of microelectronics and nanoscale engineering. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
RF, millimeter-wave, analog, mixed-signal, and digital integrated circuits
Optoelectronics and photonics
Neuromorphic computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning
Quantum and 2D materials technologies & systems
Micro and nanoelectromechanical systems (MEMS / NEMS)
Electromagnetics and energy conversion
Radiation‑tolerant devices, circuits, and systems
Sensor systems
Heterogeneous integrated circuits and advanced packaging
Reconfigurable, adaptive, and soft nanomaterials
Nanomembranes and nanodevices
Computational and data‑driven modeling for nanomaterials discovery and design
We encourage applications from scholars who apply interdisciplinary perspectives across a variety of these domains and complement existing strengths within the department on radiation effects, reliable microelectronics design, security, trust, nanomedicine, nanobiotechnology, and nanophotonics.
These 10‑month appointments would ideally start August 1, 2026, although an earlier or later start date is negotiable.
Responsibilities
Tenured faculty at Indiana University Bloomington are expected to substantially contribute to the overall academic excellence of their department by developing and/or maintaining a robust research portfolio including pursuing and obtaining major extramural research funding to conduct cutting‑edge research both as a corresponding principal investigator and a collaborating investigator; teaching and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students as designated by the department chairperson; and actively providing service within the department, school and university alongside active engagement with the profession and/or the community.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess a PhD in engineering (or a related field) and be committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Application Procedures
Review of applications for associate or full professor positions with tenure will begin October 24, 2025 and continue until all positions are filled. Application materials should include:
Cover letter (maximum of 3 pages in length summarizing your qualifications and interest in the position)
Research Statement (maximum of 4 pages in length)
Teaching Statement (maximum of 2 pages in length)
Up to three representative scholarly publications
Contact information for three professional references
Professional references for applicants for positions with tenure will only be solicited for those selected for a finalist interview and/or job offer.
All queries about the position or the application procedures should be addressed to Dr. Daniel Loveless, search chairperson, or Dr. Cindy Broderick, search coordinator, at faculty1@indiana.edu.
Before any conditional offer of employment with tenure is finalized, candidates will be asked to disclose any pending investigations or previous findings of sexual or professional misconduct. They will also be required to authorize an inquiry by Indiana University Bloomington with all current and former employers along these lines. The relevance of information disclosed or ascertained in the context of this process to a candidate’s eligibility for hire will be evaluated by Indiana University Bloomington on a case‑by‑case basis. Applicants should be aware, however, that Indiana University Bloomington takes the matters of sexual and professional misconduct very seriously.
