Department Summary
Department of Art and Art History, established in 1911, offers BA, BFA, MA, and MFA degrees and is accredited by NASAD. Brief Description of Duties
The Department seeks part‑time faculty to encourage critical thinking and iterative concept development in class assignments. Candidates should have a contemporary experimental art practice and a desire to shape the curriculum. The selected faculty member may teach courses in one or more of the following areas: Contemporary Issues in Photography (degree or experience required), Studio Lighting courses (including Advanced Studio Lighting and Photographic Illustration), Beginning and Color Digital Photography, Image and Idea, portfolio and exhibition development, Black and White Photography (beginning darkroom through Advanced), Intermediate Digital Imaging, Advanced Black and White Photography, and Advanced Photographic Media. Faculty will also attend 1‑2 meetings each semester and provide assessment data.

Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.

Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System.

Ensure all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester, in the assigned mode.

Required Qualifications
• Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography.
• Proven artistic achievement with significant exhibitions of photo‑based media.
• University‑level teaching experience required.
• Strong portfolio of creative photo‑based work.
• Excellent writing skills and ability to direct and assess student writing in a studio context.
• Expertise in digital and darkroom photographic practices, contemporary equipment, materials, and chemistry, Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, Epson printers and software.

For Studio Lighting courses, candidate must also have relevant teaching experience and knowledge of lighting equipment with a digital workflow.

Applicants should demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population.

Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience at the university level with two years of photographic teaching.

Compensation
Salary placement is based on qualifications and experience. Anticipated monthly rates for full‑time faculty are:

L‑A / Range 2 – $5,507 – $5,959

L‑B / Range 3 – $6,221 – $7,481

L‑C / Range 4 – $6,825 – $9,431

L‑D / Range 5 – $8,593 – $10,347

Part‑time rates are prorated.

Employment Conditions
Faculty employees must complete required CSU employee training (e.g., discrimination, harassment, Title IX, health and safety). They are subject to ongoing review for Campus Security Authority designation and must complete Clery Act training. Conditions of appointment depend on budget and enrollment and are governed by the CSU‑CCFA collective bargaining agreement.
