Overview


Cecil College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor of Interpersonal Communication. The successful candidate will conduct in-person, daytime classes in accordance with Cecil College-approved syllabi and the stipulations of the Department of English and Humanities.


Responsibilities



  • Conduct assigned classes in accordance with the approved master course syllabus and department stipulations, including administering a final exam or culminating activity, meeting all class times, and submitting attendance and grades per college processes.

  • Utilize the current College course management system (Canvas).

  • Establish, post, and maintain office hours at least one-half hour before or after class.

  • Adhere to copyright laws as provided on the Library site for the college web portal.

  • Regularly check Cecil College email accounts and respond in a timely manner to emails from the department chair, administrative staff, and students. Use Cecil College email for all college communications.

  • Participate in Cecil College Academic Monitoring.

  • Submit any Incomplete Grade Contracts to the Administrative Assistants in Academic Programs.

  • Support College-wide testing and actively encourage student participation.

  • Participate in course assessment and program reports, as needed.

  • Complete required Safe Colleges training.

  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the College and the policies of the Board of Trustees.

  • Act in accordance with applicable laws, College policies, rules, and the terms of the contract for the current academic year.

  • Access the latest policies and procedures on the College web portal.


Minimum Requirements To Perform Work



  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Speech or a related discipline.

  • Successful college-level teaching experience in the related field. Applicants must submit resume, letter of application, and unofficial transcripts.   • Prior teaching experience in a college/university setting is preferred.


Knowledge, Skills And Abilities



  • Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.

  • Current knowledge of information and computer technology or the ability to learn (word processing, email, databases).

  • LMS experience (Canvas).

  • Able to work with students with special needs under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • Able to work independently and coordinate with colleagues and peers.

  • Availability for in-person, daytime teaching.


Physical Demands



  • Sedentary work with occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds; walking and standing as needed.


Work Environment



  • Office or meeting/training room settings with normal safety precautions; adherence to fire and building safety regulations.
