Engineering Lab Technician

JOB SUMMARY: The Engineering Lab Technician is responsible for assembling test setups, executing laboratory testing, and maintaining equipment in a controlled lab environment. This role involves working with mechanical and electrical systems, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring accurate data collection while adhering to safety standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and support laboratory operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assemble devices, test fixtures, and experimental laboratory setups • Execute laboratory tests and standardized test methods while accurately recording data • Identify abnormal equipment or test behavior and perform basic troubleshooting • Escalate complex issues as needed • Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment as per schedule • Conduct calibration of laboratory equipment following established procedures • Operate and maintain 3D printers, including basic troubleshooting and upkeep • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment • Follow all safety procedures when handling chemicals, tools, and powered equipment REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred), OR • Associate’s degree in a STEM field with 1+ years of relevant experience, OR • 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience in a related field • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude • Ability to use hand tools and electrical/mechanical test equipment • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics • Experience conducting test trials and recording data accurately • High attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience with laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration • Familiarity with 3D printing technologies and equipment Education: Bachelors Degree
