CTAE Graphic Arts Teacher
The Graphic Arts Teacher shall, under the direction of the Principal, provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the subject area(s) assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society and be college and career ready.
Essential Functions
Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development and physical health.
Prepare materials and classroom for instruction and class activities.
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, school policy and administrative regulation.
Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injury and damage.
Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.
Instruct students in the knowledge and skills required in a specific occupation or occupational field, using a systematic plan of lectures, discussions, audio-visual presentations, and laboratory, shop and field studies.
Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
Assign and grade class work and homework.
Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools.
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.
Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required.
Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of secondary school programs for the benefit of the student.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated ability in the Career and Technical program area of Graphic Arts.
Manage a local and state affiliated CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) related to the content area.
Certification/License
Minimum of Associate's Degree in Graphic Design; Advertising Design; Communication Design; Commercial Art; Graphic Arts; Visual Communication; Computer Animation; Print Management or related Graphics field or 4 year Business related field with Graphic Design Program (Adobe) certifications plus 2 Years of Industry Related Experience or Georgia State Certification as required for position.
Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Arts or a related field applicable to teaching assignment from an accredited college or university in education discipline.
